STICKING POINTS

Working on this painting of the Galerie Bastian, and it just felt super boring. I love this building, it's super well detailed and the way it meets the columns of the building next to it really clever, although like a really understated clever. But its so crisp and its lines are so clean. Which doesn't really fit my style. The painting just so felt so flat and dull. So I did something that felt a little silly at the time and used some instant coffee to bring some life to it. For some reason I don't overthink things so much with a medium like coffee because there's not really any guidelines to follow. Honestly, I don't know if it made the painting 'better' but it did make it more fun.
